ReplyDeleteI just read chapters 3 and 4 of The Bully. I thought it was nice that Darrell met a friend (Amberlynn), and I hope they stay friends. I thought it was horrible that nobody at least invited Darrell to their lunch table or even said hello to him in class. I hope people start getting nicer!
My thoughts on the book the bully is well it teaches or shows good examples of what bullying could be like first hand. Also my thoughts on chapters 3 and 4 is it is actually quite interesting cause Darrell doesn't tell anybody which is the worst thing you could not do.
ReplyDeleteI think that the book Bully is an okay book. I'm happy he found a friend to talk to . I think they should stay friends. I haven't really been extremely interested in this book, but it isn't boring either. I think the book will get more interesting as the story goes on.

I thought it was great that Darrell became friends with Amberlynn and how nice she was to him. Like Darrell in chapter 4 I was nervous to start school when I had to move and go to other schools. I wasn't bullied when I went to different schools. However I wasn't sure if I was going to make many friends.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Darrell but the book is very slow and does not capture my interest. The Bully is not the type of book I like to read because it is so predictable Darrell won't tell anyone he is being bullied but then he will and everything will be better which is not how it works in the real world.
ReplyDeleteThis book could do with alot more action. The last 4 chapters were a good set up... but really needed to start the actual story.

ReplyDeleteI just finished reading chapters 3&4 of "The Bully." As my advisory said, the beginning was a very slow start, but the book is now starting to speed up a bit. I liked that Darrell got to know Amberlynn, and am glad that he now can have one person to talk to. I hope that he begins to make more friends so that the book may start to go even faster, and give us something to relate to, as there has been almost nothing to relate to for many of us.
Well, I must say that the book, "The Bully" by Paul Langan is very, very, very, very, very, very, very good so far!
ReplyDeleteI think kids looked away because they were afraid that they were going to get harassed if they tried to stick up for Darrel. There is 3 or 4 big strong kids against Darrel and one of him. I think he didn't fight back because he thought that the consequences would be bad if he told on Tyray and his friends. I want to read more and I can't wait to see what happens. Darrel needs to find a way to stop this himself and he can't always depend upon other people to help him out, even though that's nice. Friends are there for your support but there comes a time when you have to figure it out yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhen reading The Bully, I couldn't help thinking how hard it must have been for Darrell to move across country from Philadelphia to California. I have lived in the same house my whole life but I know friends who have moved, and I know that it is difficult to make new friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about the bully is that when each kid got bullied other people that saw it didn't do anything about it because they were afraid to step up and do something about it because they think that they will get bullied or harassed if you try to do something about it. Even the kids that were big and bulky and really strong didnt do anything because of what could happen to them if they try to do something about it and do it the wrong way. It is a good book so far and I am looking forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteWhat I thought about chapter 3&4 about The Bully book was that when Darrell met up with Tyray in chapter 2, my advisory said that Tyray is probably going to haunt Darrell while he sleeps and while he's at school. What I want to know is, now that Darrell has a bully, is he ever going to go to school anymore, or is he going to face his fears and try to stop Tyray himself. I want to keep reading and see what happens!
ReplyDeleteI finished this book and I don't think it related to our school too much. I can understand how hard it might be for Darrel to go to a new school where he knows no one because I've moved to many different schools and even skipped a grade. However, I have always been treated kindly and no one ignores me. Bullying in the Marshwood district, if there is any, is not as bad as Philadelphia or California. Therefor I found it hard to relate to this book.
ReplyDeleteI recently finished the book The Bully by Paul Langston, and for chapters 3 & 4 I think that Darrell wanted to make friends instantly with Amberlynn Bailey, and even though she DOES kind of befriend him, he wanted to be more than friends...
ReplyDeleteI finished the book, ummm, two days ago. It was cool, I felt really bad for Darrel. Overall, the book was really interesting. The first two chapters I read, I thought it was wicked boring and I didn't want to have to read another paragraph. But I started chapter three and really got into it. I finished it a couple days later. Cool Book!
ReplyDeleteI thought this book was going to be completely ridiculous and a waste of time but its not a bad story (:
